Since 2011, wolves have been naturally migrating into California. In 2014, the first resident pack was formed, and wolves have continuously inhabited the state since that time. Unlike other well-known reintroduction initiatives such as those in Yellowstone or Colorado, California has not implemented a release program for wolves. The natural dispersion of wolves into California is facilitated by legal protections. Through the conservation efforts of CWC and public education initiatives, we strive to ensure that wolves, livestock, and humans can coexist harmoniously in the modern world.
